London & Capital, the well-known, London-based wealth and asset manager known for its expertise in looking after high-net-worth American expats and others with U.S. connections, has sold a "majority stake" to a Philadelphia-based private equity firm known as Lovell Minnick Partners, the two companies announced today.

Tom Sheridan, who retired in 2019 after 17 years as chief executive of London-based Seven Investment Management (7IM) – which he also co-founded – has been named a senior adviser to the U.S. family office of London & Capital, a London-based advisory firm that specializes in looking after American expatriates.

Wealth management companies saying that they’re adopting their businesses to take into account the specialist savings and investment needs of women isn’t all that new. What’s more, some companies have actually been doing it.

London & Capital, the London-based wealth management company whose co-founder and managing director, Daniel Freedman, died suddenly in late October, has named Guy McGlashan chief executive.

"Avoid illiquid assets, rotate out of cyclicals, and, given that interest rates seem likely to remain low for the foreseeable future, seek out the right income producing assets where possible," were among the messages that around 50 delegates attending the American in Britain magazine’s annual autumn tax and finance seminar earlier this week received – alongside some light snacks and beverages.

Daniel Freedman, one of the best-known figures in the UK’s American expat wealth advisory industry, died earlier this week in London, his London-based company, London & Capital, announced this morning.

London & Capital, a London-based wealth management firm known best in some expat circles for its work on behalf of American expatriate clients, has “transferred” a portion of one of its private client businesses to Foster Denovo Group, the companies have announced.

Delegates attending a standing-room-only tax and finance seminar for American expats on Monday would not have expected to hear that they could relax and not worry much about the state of their finances when they arrived at Smith & Wollensky’s London outpost off the Strand, where the seminar was held.
