American expat-focused wealth, tax, and advice firms actively recruiting, as 2023 looms

As 2022 draws to a close, companies around the world that look after American expats' financial, tax and citizenship issues are, it seems, busy planning for the year ahead. And as they're doing so, many are looking to hire new staff, with the specialist qualifications such businesses require.

Corporate Tax Assistant Manager,
also Corporate Tax Manager, London
Andersen LLP is the UK member firm of Andersen Global, a part of San Francisco-based Andersen Tax LLC that traces its roots back to a wealth and tax advisory firm that was founded in 2002 by 23 former Arthur Andersen partners. (See Andersen Global plants its first 'Andersen' flag in British soil, July, 2019.) The company is currently looking to hire a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager and a Corporate Tax Manager to join its corporate and M&A tax team in London.
According to a detailed job description (which may be viewed by clicking here), the roles would be 90% corporate tax advisory and 10% tax compliance, which is why candidates with experience in corporate tax advisory work and M&A transactions would be preferred. The company's offices are located in the Moorgate area of the City of London, blocks from Liverpool Street Station (and the new Elizabeth line).
Junior to mid-level, U.S.-qualified
tax associate based in the UK
McLemore Konschnik LLP, a London-based law firm launched earlier this year by Chris McLemore and Kristin Konschnik, is looking for a "junior to mid-level, U.S.-qualified tax associate" to join its growing team.
To be considered for this role, an applicant must already have the right to work in the UK, and be able to demonstrate an interest in living in the UK long-term, .
MASECO Private Wealth, a London-based, independent wealth management firm which specializes in looking after American clients with multi-jurisdictional wealth management issues, is looking to hire an Operations Analyst, to work out of its offices on the Strand in Central London.
According to a job description on the MASECO website, the ideal candidate would be "positive, organized and have a proven ability to interact with staff at all levels," in a "fast-paced environment" in which they would sometimes be "under pressure," while remaining "flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality." Expert written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and numeracy abilities and attention to detail are also considered important.
Reporting to MASECO's current Operations Manager, the ideal candidate would have a minimum of two years' of experience in a similar role within the financial services industry.
Explaining its recruitment philosophy, MASECO – which, as reported, is a so-called "B Corp," or Benefit Corporation – states that it considers itself to be different from many other financial services companies because of its deeply-held "core beliefs and values," and that, for this reason, it looks to hire "passionate, entrepreneurial individuals" who share its vision.
Senior Tax Preparer
(Enrolled Agent or CPA preferred)
British American Tax, with offices on the border of Essex and London, is looking for an experienced U.S. tax professional, based in the London area, to take on certain client management duties in addition to client tax form preparation, and some review work. (Preparation will account for around 80% of this individual's duties, utilizing CCH ProSystemfx.
To be considered for this role, an applicant must be legally resident in the UK, and comfortable working in an office environment.
U.S./UK Tax Manager or Senior Manager (EPC)
Blick Rothenberg, a City of London-based accountancy firm that traces its roots back to 1945, is currently recruiting for a US/UK Tax Manager or Senior Manager, among other roles. The role would involve running a "growing portfolio of U.S.-inbound clients" and UK businesses (and their owners) generally that are looking to expand into the U.S. market, according to a description of the job.
Experience with "U.S. forms 1120-F, 1120 and 5472" would be an advantage, as would a general understanding of the tax obligations UK businesses take on when they begin doing business on the other side of the pond.

The firm now known as Blick Rothenberg was founded in by Helmut Rothenberg OBE, for whom it was a key part of the life he managed to re-build for himself after coming to London from Germany after World War II. His partner in launching the business was Bernard Blick, a specialist in insurance, and their original offices were on Copthall Avenue, now home to the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
