Smithfield market to be venue for annual London tax conference

London’s historic and atmospheric Smithfield market will host the annual DJH International Tax Conference next month.

The two-day conference, on March 10 and 11, is set to feature more than a dozen speakers, including representatives of EY, Coutts, Forsters, Frank Hirth, Blick Rothenberg, Moore Global US Tax Services, Withers, Trowbridge Professional Corporation and Citizenship Solutions.

The actual venue will be CCT Venues, which is located in the space above the historic, Victorian-era Smithfield complex, pictured above. The state-of-the-art meeting space has recently reopened after five years.

Deborah Hicks, who heads up DJH International Tax, said that, as in the past, this year’s program will address “some of the most pressing tax and financial issues currently facing Americans living overseas”, for an audience of tax, legal and wealth management professionals; and in doing so, will draw on the expertise of well-known tax professionals from both sides of the Pond.

This is the ninth year the conference has run in London and attracts professionals from not just the UK but across Europe.

As in the past, enrolled agent attendees of this year’s conference will receive 12 credit hours of continuing education, while those of other professional designations may also be eligible and will receive certificates of attendance.

In addition to heading up the conference and training operation, Hicks is also the founder of the U.S. Professionals Association, a networking group which meets in both London and Toronto.

The cost of attending is £800 plus VAT for members of the U.S. Professionals Association, through Feb. 15; after that it's £850 plus VAT.

For non-USPA members it’s £1,000 through Feb. 15, then £1,050 plus VAT. The fee includes the course materials, lunch and refreshments throughout.
